Description:

Raw Story, a progressive news website, seeks an enterprising newswriter for an evening (4-12 a.m. ET / 1-9 p.m. PT) and weekend shift. The successful candidate will cover breaking news in national politics, criminal justice, elections, social justice and extremism.

Key Responsibilities:

• Produce several concise articles per shift

• Uncover unique stories and angles overlooked by mainstream media

• Demonstrate strong news judgment and writing skills

Requirements:

• Excellent writing skills and deep knowledge of U.S. politics. Candidates will be asked to complete a writing test

• At least two years of experience in writing breaking news

• Familiarity with social media and story promotion

• Ability to work independently and manage a high-volume workload

• Previous experience writing for a media outlet
